Twelve men made the supreme sacrifice for their country, and in 1920 twelve trees lining the roadway were planted in living remembrance of their sacrifice. A replica rock depicts the 1918 carving of Victor Slawinsky's Memory of an American Doughboy - Spirit of an American Soldier, whose original rock carving is located on the old road to Hosie Dam & the mining ghost town of Edgerton. On November 11, 2005, the park was rededicated, continuing their memory and providing a peaceful river park.
