Hood Hospital
Military
Hood Hospital occupied the buildings and grounds of Andrew Female College, which were offered to the Confederate government for hospital use during 1863-65. The hospital was named for General John B. Hood of Texas, who commanded the Army of Tennessee in the campaign around Atlanta from July 1864 to January 1865. Within the college's walls, sick and dying soldiers from Georgia battlefields were brought to Cuthbert for care.
