Founded in 1966 at Micke Grove Regional Park, the San Joaquin County Historical Society and Museum preserves San Joaquin County’s history through exhibits, historic buildings, educational programs, and a major public archive. Its collections have grown from a few hundred items to more than 75,000 artifacts and over 500,000 documents and photographs, supporting research on the county’s people, industries, and landscapes. Accredited in 1973, it highlights subjects ranging from Stockton founder Charles Weber and Yokuts and Miwok cultures to agriculture, manufacturing, and regional ecosystems. Historic structures and hands-on school programs make it both a research center and an active historical campus.
