A caboose built by Southern Pacific in 1978 was purchased from Jim Dobbas, Inc. of Newcastle and moved to the Auburn depot site on Nov. 12, 1990. Its purchase was made possible by a grant from Bank of America Foundation, secured by the Auburn High Street Branch of Bank of America as a gift to the citizens of the community of Auburn.
