Oak Knoll Wildlife Sanctuary in Attleboro, Massachusetts, protects seventy-five acres on Lake Talaquega as wildlife habitat and a place for nature study and quiet recreation. Managed by the Massachusetts Audubon Society, it includes a colonial house from 1759 that now serves as a nature center with exhibits on native turtles, invertebrates, and the local environment. Wooded trails and boardwalks cross a red maple swamp, upland forest, and freshwater marsh before circling the lake. The property once had a very different role as the site of a casino and hotel, making its preservation as a natural landscape especially notable.
