On July 18, 1864, Logan’s 15th A.C., Army of the Tennessee [US], after detouring from the old Shallow Ford Rd. at the Rainey plantation 4 mi. west, moved to this point and joined Garrard’s cav., which was en route south to Browning’s Court House by way of McAfee's bridge on the Chattahoochee River and Buchanan’s house on the Hightower Trail at Buford Highway. Logan’s corps, supporting Garrard, then moved 2 mi. south to Browning’s, where it remained for the rest of the day while Lightburn's brigade went with the cavalry to destroy the Georgia R.R. at and near Stone Mountain.
