Topsail Hill Preserve State Park is a 1,640-acre protected area at Santa Rosa Beach in northwestern Florida, east of Destin and accessible from U.S. 98. It preserves more than three miles of white-sand shoreline, dunes, wetlands, lakes, and diverse habitats. The park is named for a dune nearly 25 feet above sea level whose shape is said to resemble a ship’s topsail. Its notable features include three rare coastal dune lakes, among them Lake Campbell, and habitat for wildlife such as the endangered Choctawhatchee beach mouse. It is valued both for outdoor recreation and for protecting an intact stretch of Florida coastal ecosystems.
