Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve is a South Dakota state park along the Missouri River that preserves the former homestead of Stephen Searls Adams on about 1,500 acres. Dating to 1872, the property reflects an early period of settlement along the river. After the land was donated in 1984, it became a state park in 1997. The preserve now supports year-round outdoor recreation, including hiking in warmer seasons and cross-country skiing in winter. Its importance comes from combining a historic homestead landscape with a large protected stretch of publicly accessible riverfront.
