Hoffmaster State Park is a Michigan state park on the Lake Michigan shore north of Grand Haven, spanning 1,200 acres with three miles of sand beach in Norton Shores and Spring Lake Township. Established in 1963, it was named for Percy James Hoffmaster, an important builder of Michigan’s state park system and a longtime conservation leader. Its nature center honors Emma Genevieve Gillette, who helped scout sites for new parks. Known especially for its dunes, the park offers interactive exhibits, public nature programs, ten miles of hiking trails, winter cross-country skiing, campgrounds, and notable seasonal bird migration.
