Warehouse H, built in 1934, is a whiskey-aging warehouse constructed of huge, self-supporting ricks. Massive wooden beams support an entire inventory of 15,947 maturing barrels of Kentucky bourbon within a metal-clad structure. Its aging characteristics most appealed to Colonel Albert B. Blanton, and specially selected barrels of Blanton's single barrel bourbon whiskey are procured only from inside this building. The metal shell allows the warehouse to warm quickly during the day and cool at night, and these temperature changes cause the whiskey to cycle within the barrel more often, producing a smooth yet spicy bourbon.
