Marrowstone Point Light stands at the northern tip of Marrowstone Island in Washington, overlooking Admiralty Inlet at the eastern entrance to Port Townsend Bay. First marked in 1888 by a lens lantern on a pole, the site gained a fog bell and keeper’s dwelling in 1896 for its first keeper, sea captain Osmond Hale Morgan and his family. In 1912 the light was moved to a small concrete structure, and in 1918 a cement fog-signal building with three large trumpets was added after mariners complained the bell was not always audible. The station’s grounds now serve the U.S. Geological Survey’s Marrowstone Marine Field Station.
