In 1974, the National Register of Historic Places added the Burton Village Historic District to its inventory. To date, 15 Burton Village buildings and structures have received that designation and are pictured on this map. In June, 1798 Burton became the first settlement in what is now known as Genuga County. Today, Burton is known for its fine examples of Western Reserve Architecture.
