Martin C. Weber, Sr., of Merton, Wis., founded the Land O' Lakes baseball leagues in 1922 with 8 teams. The organization became Wisconsin's oldest and largest amateur baseball league. In early 1950, it had grown to 108 teams in leagues called Land O' Lakes, Rivers, Brooks, Valleys, and Puddles, covering 7 counties with Waukesha as the base, plus parts of Jefferson, Washington, Racine, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, and Kenosha. Martin, Sr. directed the leagues until 1952. Today, 41 teams remain in 4 divisions under 4 different directors. Weber died in 1966 at age 69.
