Patrick H. Bradley helped bring the railroad through this town, which bears his name. He served as a brigadier general in the State Militia, a captain in the Confederate War, a member of the South Carolina Legislature, a trustee of Erskine College, and the first president of the Augusta-Knoxville Railroad. He lived nearby and is buried in the Cedar Springs Church yard.
