Jimbilnan Wilderness is an 18,879-acre protected desert area in Nevada extending from the northeast side of the Black Mountains toward Lake Mead, about 40 miles east of Las Vegas. Managed by the National Park Service and designated as wilderness in 2002, it includes canyons flowing out of the Black Mountains and three washes that level out toward the lake, creating varied terrain. The area is significant for its uncommon plant life, including Beaver Dam milkvetch and sticky buckwheat, and for bird species such as red-tailed hawks, white-crowned sparrows, and bald eagles.
