Waddells Mill Pond Site, about seven miles northwest of Marianna, Florida, is an archaeological site preserving the remains of a significant late prehistoric mound and village complex. Excavations in the 1960s and 1970s found two mounds and traces of a circular fortification, indicating that it had been a substantial settled community rather than an isolated earthwork. Believed to have been abandoned before the Spanish reached the region in 1674, it belongs to the late prehistoric era of north Florida and is connected to the wider cultural world of Fort Walton and the Mississippian tradition.
