Constructed around 1875 by John Seaborn Watt for his bride, Emma Chastillette Williamson, Long Shadows House is a fine example of Victorian architecture. It was originally located near Yancey's Bend before the construction of Weiss Lake, when the site was going to be surrounded by water and Alabama Power purchased the land and house. Robert and Louise Nelson then bought the house from Alabama Power for $412, saved it from destruction, and paid $6000 to move it several miles to its current location, where it was beautifully restored.
