The Tenth Legion New York Veteran Volunteers was composed of the 56th Regiment of Infantry, 7th and 8th Independent Batteries, and Companies C and D of the 1st Regiment N.Y. Mounted Rifles, recruited in Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties.
