Horatio Harris Merrill, born January 3, 1837, and his daughter Eliza Ann Merrill, born July 27, 1881, were traveling by team and wagon from Pima, Arizona, to Clifton, Arizona, when they were ambushed and killed by Indians with rifles on December 3, 1895, shortly after sundown.
