Columbia Hills State Park is a public recreation area in south-central Washington, about 6 miles east of Dallesport on State Route 14. Covering 3,338 acres on Horsethief Lake along the Columbia River, it was created in 2003 by merging Horsethief Lake State Park with Dalles Mountain Ranch, combining river access with a broad upland landscape of trails and open hills. The park supports camping, boating, picnicking, fishing, swimming, windsurfing, rock climbing, and hiking on about 12 miles of trails. Its most distinctive feature is a set of petroglyph panels rescued from flooding caused by the Dalles Dam, connecting the park to the Columbia River’s deeper human history.
