Jim Thorpe House
Pop Culture
In Yale, Oklahoma, this historic home is tied to a deeply personal period in Jim Thorpe’s life. He bought the small house in 1917 and lived there until 1923 with his wife, Iva Miller, and their children. Its significance rests less on his athletic fame than on these family years, which included the death of their two-year-old son, Jim Jr. Later acquired by the Oklahoma Historical Society in 1968, the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and operated as a small museum with Thorpe memorabilia. In mid-2024, ownership returned to the Thorpe family, and it continues as a museum.
