The waterfall known for decades as Lace Falls takes its nickname from the waters of Cedar Creek, which tumble gently down the rock face in a pattern that resembles lace. Standing 50 feet tall, it marked the end of Thomas Jefferson's property. The water begins several miles away in the Short Hills range, then flows through the park on its way to the James River.
