Providence Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church was founded September 10, 1836, on a site that later became its cemetery. William Blakely, Sr., a survivor of the Hayes Station Massacre in 1871, is buried there, and he and Samuel Blakely donated the land for the church and cemetery. The congregation moved to Clinton about 1902.
