Once a fishing spot for indigenous peoples and later the origin of Lewiston industry, Veterans Memorial Park was dedicated in September 2004 through efforts by the L/A Veterans Council to gather donations and sponsorships from individuals, businesses, and organizations. The park began with six flag poles representing five military branches and POW/MIA. Name stones each bear 216 names. A marble Honor Roll memorializes Lewiston High School students who fought for the United States during the World Wars; originally erected in 1919 by a Lewiston High School class, it was moved here in 2005. A jeep associated with many wars and conflicts also stands here, and the park serves as a remembrance of brave members of the Lewiston/Auburn communities.
