Fenimore Farm and Country Village near Cooperstown, New York, preserves and interprets nineteenth-century rural life through exhibits, workshops, and more than two dozen historic buildings, including shops, offices, and a farmstead. The property began as a working farm by 1813 under James Fenimore Cooper, later passed to Judge Samuel Nelson and then the Clark family, and gained a Colonial Revival farm complex in 1918 for Edward Severin Clark's prize cattle. Opened to the public in 1944, it has grown from about 5,000 objects to more than 23,000 artifacts. Traditional crafts, the Cardiff Giant, and the Empire State Carousel are among its notable attractions.
