Roebling’s Delaware Aqueduct
Masthope, Pennsylvania
· Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River
Transportation
At the Delaware Aqueduct, a river crossing evolved from a low-water ford to a rope ferry to an aqueduct and finally to a road bridge. Its reconstructed towpath recalls the time when mules pulled Delaware & Hudson Canal boats back to Pennsylvania for another load of coal, linking the past movement of canal boats with the present passage of canoes and views of the river valley.
