Brattain's Grove stood at this place as the junction of the Dragoon and Mormon trails. The site was determined and authenticated by the Historical Department of Iowa in 1911, and in 1917 the Iowa Daughters of the American Revolution erected a memorial in memory of the pioneers who followed this trail and its tributaries.
