The Division Field Hospitals of the Sixth Corps were established on July 2nd near the Trostle House east of Rock Creek and two hundred yards southwest of this point. These hospitals cared for 315 wounded. The Medical Director of the 6th Corps was Surgeon Charles O'Leary of the U.S. Volunteers. The 1st Division surgeon was E.F. Taylor of the 1st N.J. Infantry, the 2nd Division surgeon was S.J. Allen of the 4th Vermont Infantry, and the 3rd Division surgeon was S.A. Holman of the 7th Massachusetts Infantry. The Medical Officer in charge of the Corps Hospitals was Surgeon C.N. Chamberlain of the U.S. Volunteers.
