The first smithy stood here and burned in 1921. After the fire, neighbors diverted the brook so a new shop could be built farther from the house. Joseph and Nellie Vagg moved here with their son and daughter in 1909, and in 1929 they remodeled the home. Nellie was always a devotee to temperance and the WCTU. Rene Schasel is remembered here, 1947 - 2019.
