McGovern Home stood on this site by circa 1910. It was built for Dr. J.C. McGovern, who opened his dental office here in 1906, started a free dental clinic for school children, served on the City Council, was president of the Chamber of Commerce, was founder and first president of the Community Chest, and served as County Coroner from 1931-1938.
