The house now known as the Creole House was originally said to have been built by either Dr. Macdonald or Dr. Hill, though it is unclear which doctor actually built it. It served as both a residence and a doctor's office. Along the Mississippi, it is one of few buildings that blends Anglo American and French American architecture. The original structure consisted of just one room, but between 1835 and 1865 the house was enlarged several times to become what it is today. Over the years it has been home to multiple families and even a senator. It is currently used as a historic site and museum, known for many unexplainable supernatural elements, and today it is under the care of the Randolph County Historic Society and open for tours during events or by appointment only.
