The Oxford-Bellevue Ferry is believed to be the nation’s oldest privately operated ferry service. It has crossed the Tred Avon River since the Talbot County Court “pitcht upon Mr. Richard Royston to keepe a Ferry” on November 20, 1683, and service has been continuous since 1836.
