Harry S. Truman, thirty-second President of the United States of America, was born at this location on May 8, 1884, and died on Dec. 26, 1972. He said, "I ask only to be a good and faithful servant of my Lord and my People." His public service included County Judge from 1923 to 1925, Presiding Judge of the County Court from 1927 to 1935, United States Senator from 1935 to 1945, Vice-President of the United States of America in 1945, and President of the United States of America from 1945 to 1953. He was honored and respected for serving with honor and distinction and for giving the nation and the world courageous leadership in the search for peace, freedom and justice.
