The U.S. Coast Guard cutter Winona was commissioned on August 15, 1946, and spent most of its service life home ported at Port Angeles, Washington. Named after Lake Winona, Indiana, it served part of the time on patrol in the Bering Sea and off the coast of Vietnam. It remained in service until it was decommissioned in 1974 and sold for scrap, and at that time its anchor was given to the city of Winona.
