Warren Cash served with the Virginia Militia from 1776 to 1780, taking part in the battles of Brandywine and Monmouth, several skirmishes, and being with Washington at Valley Forge. He married Susannah Baskett, who taught him to read. They came to Kentucky, joined the Baptist Church, and Cash became a minister. He moved to Hardin County in 1806, and among the churches he organized was Gilead in 1824. He and his wife are buried here.
