Indiana Military Museum in Vincennes, Indiana, grew from founder Jim R. Osborne's childhood collecting of military surplus into a public museum preserving equipment, artifacts, and stories from American conflicts. Founded in 1982 and opened in 1984, it expanded from rescued buildings and later moved to a larger site near George Rogers Clark National Historical Park, reopening in 2013. The museum emphasizes large hardware as well as smaller artifacts, adding aircraft, a tank, and the sail of USS Indianapolis, while also housing a library, memorial spaces, immersive interior exhibits, and reenactment events spanning conflicts from the Civil War through the Vietnam War.
