Combat Talon crews flew some of the military’s most critical and dangerous missions, carrying out clandestine infiltration, resupply, and exfiltration of U.S. and Allied Special Operations Forces worldwide, beginning with the first operational missions over the jungles of Southeast Asia. Their airmen continued to answer the nation’s call in demanding service, and this account honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice in MC-130 Combat Talon aircraft in North Vietnam in 1967, South Carolina in 1972, Iran in 1980, the Philippines in 1981, Afghanistan and Puerto Rico in 2002, and Albania in 2005, while also recognizing the Combat Talon units connected with that legacy.
