Ben Harris, known as "the greatest liar in the Sierra," was an unwashed and profane figure who frequented Lemon Cove and the Mineral King back country and became part of the folklore. For nearly 75 years, his mule was said to be the smartest, his dog the meanest, his gun the shootingest, and his eye the keenest. He belonged to the world of tall tales that brighten the campfire.
