Phoenix Trolley Museum preserves Phoenix’s historic streetcars and the broader story of urban transit in the city. Incorporated in 1975 as the Arizona Street Railway Museum, it has collected original trolley cars, photographs, maps, and memorabilia that connect street railways to Phoenix’s growth and daily life. After leaving its longtime downtown site in 2017, the museum relocated in 2018 to Grand Avenue, one of the city’s earliest trolley corridors, and has worked to establish a permanent home there. Its volunteer-led effort gained momentum through renovations, a property purchase in 2020, and the rediscovery of Phoenix Street Railway car No. 509, long believed lost since 1948.
