The Loblolly Pine (Pinus taeda) is sometimes called North Carolina pine or Indian pine, and its name means depression. Loblolly pines are fast growing and are used for furniture, plywood, posts, crates, boxes, and other wooden structures. Southern Iroquois tribes often called this tree Annedda, while northern Iroquois tribes called it "ohnehta" for white pine.
