Antioch Baptist Church was organized in 1829 with an original membership of 36 members dismissed from Catfish Baptist Church. In its first year, 31 baptisms were recorded and membership rose to 83. Antioch belonged to the Charleston Baptist Association until 1832, when 17 churches, including Antioch, organized the Welsh Neck Baptist Association. In 1876 Antioch helped form the Pee Dee Baptist Association. The current building, the third church on this site, was built in 1882, and the original baptistry was added the next year. The building burned in 1991 and was rebuilt in 1998. A Sunday School was in operation by at least 1891. The church remained in active use until 1935, when Antioch’s last members left for other congregations.
