Moses H. Cone Memorial Park
History
1
Moses H. Cone Memorial Park in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, is a public country estate on the Blue Ridge Parkway that combines the historic Flat Top Manor with extensive designed grounds. Created in honor of Moses H. Cone, the estate reflects early forestry and landscape ideas through Cone’s work with Gifford Pinchot on white pine forests and hemlock hedges. The 3,500-acre property includes a mansion, carriage house, cemetery, church, apple barn, lakes, and 25 miles of carriage trails widely used for hiking and horseback riding. Open year-round, it is the Blue Ridge Parkway’s busiest recreational site.
