A tree acquired many years ago in the mountains southwest of Dillon, Montana, could be as much as 500 years old. The Sheepeaters placed a mountain sheep skull in the crotch of the tree, and over a hundred years or more the tree grew around it. Later another skull was placed above the first, and eventually the tree grew around it as well. There are four skulls in this tree.
