In this neighborhood, known as “The Foot of the Rocks,” Henry Wellington, a commissioned officer of the War of 1812-14, and his wife Eliza Teele, both natives of this town, made their home in 1819. In honor of his parents and ancestors, their youngest son, William Edward Wellington of Dubuque, Iowa, who was born in this town in 1834, had this plat of ground dedicated by the town of Arlington in 1907.
