Dedicated on June 23, 1980, Grosso Park honors the memory of Dr. Joseph Grosso, a former city councilor and longtime resident of the north side. Remembered as a great doctor, a fine gentleman, and a good friend to all, he lived adjacent to the park and was influential in its upkeep and good appearance for many years. The park was deeded to the city in 1865 and was originally named Bennett Park for Miles W. Bennett, one of the former owners of the property. A memorial to World War II veterans there was dedicated on August 14, 1946.
