Hancock moved along Vaughan Road to his defeat at Burgess Mill on October 27, 1864, and in 1865 Grant moved his forces on it from the east to attack Lee's right wing. On March 29, 1865, Sheridan came to Dinwiddie Court House over it in the operations preceding the Battle of Five Forks.
