The Center Point Train Depot was built in the 1920's by the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway on what is now Highway 27, on the north side of the Guadalupe River near where Hwy 480 and Hwy 27 meet. By 1875, Center Point was a thriving community and active trading center for area ranches and farms. After the arrival of the railroad, boxcars were filled with cattle, wool, mohair, and farm produce and shipped to cities far and wide. The depot was also important for passenger travel, bringing visitors for business and recreation. By 1900, Center Point had an estimated population of 500, permanent churches, a solid business community, public schools, and a growing reputation as a health and recreation resort area. Rail service was discontinued in the early 1970's, and in 2012 the depot was moved to its current location in Center Point Historical Park.
