North Hills is a local name applied to several small foothill groups in Montana rather than to one distinct mountain range. One such group, about 3,556 feet high, lies northwest of Missoula, while others are located north of Bozeman and north of Helena. In each instance, the term refers to modest hills that are usually considered parts of larger surrounding ranges. The name therefore identifies local geographic features in different parts of the state, not a single separate mountain system with a unified identity.
