Arts & Culture
The Wolfsonian–FIU in Miami Beach’s Art Deco District is a museum, library, and research center focused on the persuasive power of art and design from 1885 to 1945. Developed from the collection of Mitchell Wolfson Jr., it grew from rare books and objects he began assembling in the 1970s, opened to the public in 1995, and became part of Florida International University in 1997. Its roughly 180,000 holdings are especially strong in modern design, propaganda, world’s fair materials, and architecture publications. Housed in a former 1927 storage building adapted for museum use, it also serves scholars, students, and the wider community through exhibitions and research programs.
