Johnny Appleseed Park in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is best known as the burial place of John Chapman, the American pioneer remembered as Johnny Appleseed. Formerly called Archer Park, it took on its present name through its lasting connection to Chapman, whose gravesite remains a central feature. The land was donated by William T. McKay to Allen County as a memorial park, and later became part of Fort Wayne’s Parks and Recreation Department as the city expanded. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, the park also includes a campground, a Vietnam War Memorial, and the annual Johnny Appleseed Festival.
